MISC:Mozambique's coastline, stretching 1,700 miles, is the longest
coastline in Africa. It's earth holds approximately 1 billion tons of
coal. The capital city, Maputo (formerly Lourenco Marques), is one of
Africa's most beautiful cities. Amateur activity has been suspended
since 1976. 4% of the land is arable. Mozambique became independent on
25 June, 1975. In 1985 Mozambique spent 38% of its central government
budget on its military. Uses metric system. Member of UN since 1975.
